I noticed that the article uses her first name "Melania" almost throughout the entire article like "Zampolli urged Melania to travel to the United States ...". Not sure what is the convention but perhaps it would be good to call her "Knavs" or "Knauss" until 2005 when she married Donald Trump. The article semi-reflects the name changes as it calls her "Melanija" in the Early Life section. I see how it's a bit of prosaic liberty in the sections dealing with the relationship with Donald Trump, where he is also referred to as "Donald" to avoid confusion but in many other areas, I think it would be better to call her "Trump", just as Jill Biden, e.g. "Biden lent her support to USAID's FWD campaign, ..." or from Michelle Obamas article "Obama met with Queen Elizabeth II in ...". After having written a couple dozen first lady articles, I've found that this is the least confusing way to do it. If someone's far-more-famous spouse is frequently mentioned in the article, then it only throws the reader off to use the name that's more commonly associated with the spouse. The article is on Melania Trump, it is easily comprehended that lone use of the surname "Trump" refers to her. So long as her husband is referred to as "President Trump", "Donald Trump", "her husband", "the president", etc. and not as solely "Mr. Trump" in this article, there should be no confusion. Only in specific sentences where disambiguation becomes less clear should her first name (a a "Mrs." suffix) need to be used. People can pick up on who is mentioned by reading a darn sentence: nobody would read "Trump was the second foreign-born woman to hold the title of first lady after Louisa Adams, who was born in England" and assume that that described her husband.
I also think think over-use of first names makes this article (and any other) read less encyclopedic and more as promotional branding piece written by a publicist to promote "branding" of the "Melania" brand (Mrs. Trump does hold commercial trademarks on her first name, while the surname is not personally trademarked given the preexisting Trump brand. No. For all obvious reasons. Additional well-sourced and narrowly-scoped mention of how past undressed photos are a point of discourse about her could have a place in the article "Public image of Melania Trump". But it is not biographically significant enough to need any more mention in her main biography any more than it currently has. Also, this is not even factually true. She is not the first. Nudes of a sunbathing Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis (captured by a paparazzi without her consent) were published in tabloids decades ago. SecretName101 (talk) 15:37, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
